How The CDPP LTD was created.

The CDPP Ltd was originally formed in 2003, as a "not for profit" voluntary organisation and was called the Castleford District Parks Partnership (CDPP).
The CDPP in partnership with the local authority, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council acquired funding of £206,000 from Transforming Your Space (now part of the Big Lottery Fund). This funding was to enable the CDPP to support, and finance projects, training, and events for its seven member groups, within their local communities, area's of interest, including local parks and openspaces.
The funding started in January 2004, and finished at the end of March 2007. In this time many local projects were funded and brought to fruition by the CDPP and its members.
Planning and looking forward to the sustainability of the CDPP, part of the TYS funding was allocated to support the CDPP bcoming a Social Enterprise by the end of the funding period.
In consultation with its member groups, and other agencies the CDPP became a Limited Company by Guarantee in December 2006. The name was changed, and we are now known as the Castleford District Parks Partnership Ltd. In the near future we will apply to the Charities Commission for Charity Status, as we are already a "not for profit" organisation, .
We have at present seven member organisations ( Cutsyke Community Group, Lock Lane Residents, Friends of Valley Gardens, Whitwood Residents Action Group, Glasshoughton Residents Environmental Action Team, The Five Towns Bird Group, and the Riverside Community Group) who are all based in Castleford, West Yorkshire. At present there are over 80 volunteers involved with the groups. We have the services of a voluntary Chief Executive Officer, Company Secretary, and Accounts Manager. The Board of Directors consists of representatives from the member groups.
Each Member group works independently organising events, giving children/youth support, dealing with community issues, environmental concerns, and much more. We encourage each group to integrate and consult with their local community on all issues. The groups through our guidance have benefited their local communities by providing new facilities in their local parks, provided educational projects for people of all ages, combated, and dealt with Anti-Social Behaviour, which have improve the quality of life for so many people, and contributed greatly to the regeneraton of the former Coal Mining area of Castleford.
We work with many other agencies, such as Groundwork, West Yorkshire Police, VOX, VAUD, Wakefield Tenants & Residents Federation, Trafford Hall, Castleford Heritage, Local Councillors, and many more.
